I am pleased to welcome you to our web site.
It is designed and continually revised to give you a complete and accurate
view of education at the residency as well as life in and around Duluth.
You may have heard that Duluth's graduates feel prepared to practice in
any setting. The quality of the preparation is obvious when you see
we have graduates practicing from
Juneau, AK and Phoenix, AZ to Greenville, MS, Mattawaumkeg,
ME, and back to International Falls, MN (Bullwinkle's hometown).
Another
way to measure the quality of the education is to recognize that 237
graduates since 1975 have passed the ABFP Certification Examination on the
first attempt. While some alumni have stayed in Duluth to replace retiring physicians, the majority have gone to more rural sites. Indeed, 80%
are in towns of less than 20,000 and 60% live in communities under 10,000.
They find that these settings give them the opportunity to use all the
skills they acquire as residents.
The Duluth program will provide
you with a rich knowledge base, extensive procedural experience and the
self-confidence necessary to address the needs of your patients, no matter
where you want to practice.
