During PGY-3 of residency, the change in emphasis from hospital medicine to ambulatory care continues. 

While there are several required rotations, as well as a stint as Family Medicine Chief, residents customize their education through electives.  Many residents choose to participate in an off-site rotation outside the Duluth area to better understand the particular demands of rural Family Medicine.
  

Rotations Community Medicine (1 Month)
Electives (5.5 - 6 Months)
Emergency Medicine (1 Month)
Family Medicine Chief (1 - 1.5 Months)
Obstetrics (1 Month) service
Muskuloskeletal (1 Month)
Neurology (1 Month)
Clinic 3-5 half-days per week
Service Call None
House Call Average 6 days per year with Obstetrics
FPC Call Average 2-3 weekdays per month and
3-4 weekends per year
