Roger
Waage, MD,
Program Director
Dr. Waage grew up in Langdon, North
Dakota. He attended Medical School at the University of Minnesota,
Duluth /Minneapolis and is a 1979 graduate of the Duluth program. After
graduation he joined P.S. Rudie & Associates of Duluth and practiced
full-spectrum Family Medicine including Obstetrics. While in practice
he remained an active participant and supporter of resident education.
His interest in teaching continued to grow and he accepted a faculty position in 1994.

Kim
Kruger, MD,
Associate Director
Dr. Kim Kruger was born and raised in New Ulm, Minnesota. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus
in St. Peter, Minnesota, attended medical school at the University
of Minnesota, Duluth/Minneapolis, participated in the Rural
Physician Associate Program (RPAP) in Brainerd, Minnesota, and is a
graduate of the St. John's program.
In 2000, Dr. Kruger left the Twin
Cities for the Buffalo Clinic to practice full-spectrum family medicine
including Obstetrics. In 2002 she joined the Allina Medical Clinic in
Cokato where she practiced until joining the faculty in 2004. |
Heather
Pett Taylor, MD,
Assistant Director
Dr. Heather Pett Taylor
was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She attended the University of Minnesota Medical
School and participated in the Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP)
in Montevideo, Minnesota. This solidified her passion for rural
Family Medicine and she completed residency in Duluth.
After residency, Dr. Pett Taylor completed a fellowship in faculty
development while working at a Family Medicine clinic in Spooner,
Wisconsin, and in 2008 she joined as a fulltime faculty member. |
Andrew Snider, M.D., Assistant Director
Dr. Snider
completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of
Medicine and Public Health and is a 2011
graduate of the Duluth program. He conjunction with faculty
responsibilities, Dr. Snider has been accepted to participate in the
Essentia Health OB Fellowship designed for Family Medicine
physicians who plan to practice in rural areas. He will gain
additional experience in surgical obstetrics, ultrasound and other
gynecological procedures. It's one of only six such programs
offered in the Midwest. |
Jason Wall, M.D.,
Clinical Faculty
Dr. Wall has a
long standing fascination with all things Minnesota. He
was raised in Woodstock, Illinois, attended St. Olaf College and
graduated from the Chicago Medical School in 2003. Returning
to Minnesota for residency, he is a 2006 graduate of the Duluth
program. Dr. Wall maintains an interest in underserved
healthcare and worked at the Healtheast Salud Integral Clinic in St.
Paul, Minnesota, for two years after graduation. Coming full
circle, he returned to Duluth where he worked in urgent care until
joining the faculty in 2011. Dr. Wall enjoys medical education
and is planning a fellowship in faculty development.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wall is devoted to his family, friends, two
cats and a high-maintenance black lab. He maintains an
interest in philosophy and completed a Masters degree in the
philosophy of religion at the University of Chicago in 1999.
Dr. Wall loves the extreme weather of Duluth as well as trail
running, mountain biking, wilderness canoeing and dreaming up road
trips in his Volkswagen Vanagon. |
Lisa Prusak, M.D.,
Clinical Faculty
Dr. Prusak grew
up in Marshall, Minnesota. She graduated from the College of
St. Catherine and attended the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis
medical school. She is a 1990 graduate of the Duluth program.
Upon graduation, she spent a year as a volunteer in Bangladesh
working with woman and children and doing relief work. She
joined P.S. Rudie and Associates in 1992 doing full-scope family
practice including obstetrics. For the past 7 years, she has
worked at EssentiaHealth - Duluth Clinic Urgent Care. During
that time she spent one year in Anchorage, Alaska working in the
Community Health Clinic. She joined the residency faculty in
August 2011. |
George Jennings, M.D., Clinical Faculty
Dr. Jennings
completed medical school at the University of Vermont College of
Medicine and is
a 1999 graduate of the Duluth program. |
Matthew Horning,
M.D., Clinical Faculty
Dr. Horning
grew up on a farm outside of Chokio, Minnesota. He attended
college at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University
majoring in English, and then moved to New York City, graduating
from Weill Cornell Medical College in 2008. He joined the
faculty upon completion of his residency at the University of
Minnesota Family Medicine Residency Program-Duluth June 30, 2011.
He has been accepted for a position with Medecins Sans
Frontiers/Doctors Without Boarders and will be departing on a
medical mission sometime before summer 2012.
Dr. Horning's medical
interests include full-spectrum family medicine, including surgical
obstetrics, and he also enjoys working in the emergency department
and in the clinic, and discussing healthcare policy. When not
working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends;
he also enjoys writing, music, and ping pong. |

Kate Dean, MBA,
Administrator
Kate was born
in Duluth, Minnesota, spent time growing up in Wisconsin and
Colorado, and returned to Duluth in 1991. She earned a BS in
Biology, a BA in Communications in 1998 and completed Master's work
in Plan Biology at the University of Minnesota. In 2008 she
completed her MBA at Marylhurst University in Oregon with an
emphasis in Healthcare.

Diabetes & Nutrition Services
Patti earned
her BS at Pennsylvania State University and her MEd in Adult
Education at the University of Minnesota. She completed her
Dietetic Internship at the University of Minnesota Hospital and
Clinics and worked as a pediatric and clinical dietitian.
Moving to Duluth in 1991 she accepted a position as a clinical
dietitian and educator and then became chief clinical dietitian and
diabetes program coordinator at St. Luke's. Patti accepted a
position in 2001 at the residency program and is the
